Your Product
This page will be devoted to information on how to care for the products I have turned. There are a number of pens, wine bottle stoppers, bowls, etc. floating around out there with no source of information on how to keep them looking and working great.
If I have missed your product, you have problems with your product, you would like to purchase an existing product, or would like to hire me for a custom creation, please post a response to this page with your email address and I will respond promptly.

Slimline Twist Pen
This product is a slim pen (7mm internal tube) with a twist mechanism. These pens work well but do not write well on oils. If you are having trouble writing with it make sure there are no oils (such as from your hands or from a post it note) on the paper in excess. This is rarely a problem for me but I have run across it a couple of times.
To change the refill:
- Pull the top and bottom halves apart
- Unscrew the refill
- Screw in the new refill
- Push the two halves back together
This pen will take a standard Cross ball point pen refill.
Slimline Pro Gellwriter Click Pen
This product is a fatter pen (8mm internal tube) with a click mechanism. I have not used this style pen extensively but have gotten no complaints from users.
To change the refill:
- Unscrew the pen cap (where the writing portion comes out)
- Extract the refill and spring
- Replace with new refill and existing spring
- Screw the cap back on.
This pen will take a Parker gel style refill.
Credit Card Pen
This pen is slim (7mm internal tube) with a twist mechanism. I have not used this style pen extensively but have gotten no complaints from users.
To change the refill:
- Pull the top and bottom halves apart
- Unscrew the sliver thumb screw
- Remove the existing refill from the silver thumb screw
- Place new refill in silver thumb screw
- Screw the silver thumb screw back into the pen
- Push the top and bottom halves back together
I have not found refills from this anywhere but the place I ordered the kits from. If you find refills or need me to get you some, please post a comment to this page and I will respond.
Wine Bottle Stopper
This product consists of two halves, the actual stopper and the wood handle. The wood handle has a metal screw in the center that threads into the bottom half. This bottom half should be removed for washing as you should never expose the wood to excess moisture (see wood care below). The rubber seal can be removed from the metal cone for additional cleaning.
Wood Care
These general care tips should be followed to keep your wood looking as good as possible:
- Do not leave your product in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. This will cause discoloration.
- Do not expose your product to extreme temperatures.
- Do not expose your product to rapidly varying humidities, such as leaving it outside then brining it inside to a heated building. Rapid fluctuations in humidity could cause the wood to split or crack.
- Do not drop your product. The wood on some of these items is extremely thin and will break rather easily.
- Do not expose the wood on your product to excess moisture. The wood can be cleaned with a damp rag. Avoid rigorous scrubbing when washing as this may result in wearing away the finish.
- Wipe down and polish your product once a year. As mentioned previously, use a damp rag to wipe the product down. I use Renaissance Wax for all my polishing as it gives a great finish and helps protect, however you can use any kind of finishing polish of your choice. Always test the polish or wax you are going to use on a spare piece of wood, preferably of similar color, before applying it to your product.
- Don’t wipe your product down too often. The oils from your hands will help to keep the finish shiny and lustrous.
