Received on 01/24/2008 12:20:23PM When I try to get to my site I get an temporarily unavailable page. The url ends in "suspended.page" - is my account suspended for some reason or is there something going on with the server? Also, please tell me my server name - I can monitor the system status blog but have no idea what my server name is so it doesn't do me much good. ================================ Staff Sent to Jason McDonald on 01/24/2008 1:13:16PM Dear Jason, Due to the amount of CPU and/or memory resources used by your account, we were forced into suspending the account. Please understand that we only suspend an account as a last resort and want to help you track down the cause as quickly as possible. Shared servers (MegaPhase, Prophase, and ANHosting accounts) are only allotted 10% of the server's resources (CPU and Memory) at any given time. This restriction is put in place to keep balance on the server. The first step is to try to isolate what content on your website is causing the overage. If this seems unexpected, it could be a recent change to your site (such as installing a new wordpress plugin, mailing list application, etc). Any information you can provide about recent changes can help us to isolate the problem. However, we were able to retrieve the following files and/or scripts that likely caused the suspension: ------------------------ Top Process %CPU 99.2 /usr/local/bin/ruby /usr/local/bin/rails . Top Process %CPU 99.1 /usr/local/bin/ruby /usr/local/bin/rails . Top Process %CPU 99.0 /usr/local/bin/ruby /usr/local/bin/rails . ------------------------- If one of the files listed above is your home page (such as index.php or index.html), or if it’s just a general overage then this usually means that your site has outgrown shared hosting. The typical path from here is to upgrade to a VPS plan. The VPS plans grant you additional resources in order to handle more traffic. If you’re interested in upgrading to either of these plans, please visit: http://www.midphase.com/html_files/hosting_plan_vps.php We’re not attempting to upsale you to a more expensive plan, however, we’re simply providing you an upgrade path to ensure the future success of your site! If you’re not sure where to proceed from here, simply reply to this ticket and let us know! Again, please understand that we suspend accounts due to resource overage in order “keep the peace” on the box. After all, you are “sharing” it with others! Thank You, ================================ Client Jason McDonald Received on 01/24/2008 1:16:50PM I have 2 tickets out b/c ruby doesn't work!!!! How could this possibly be my problem?!?! I have lost traffic through my site b/c of something on the server side. The things causing the CPU usage spikes I have never been able to get to work on my site. ================================ Client Jason McDonald Received on 01/24/2008 1:28:17PM I now have a 403 Forbidden error when trying to access my site. I am losing traffic. Please fix now. ================================ Staff Sent to Jason McDonald on 01/24/2008 1:30:11PM Hello Jason, As I see you have two folders under your account : "ruby" "rails_apps" Maybe these folders are causing the problem. Could you please delete them ? Thank you. ================================ Client Jason McDonald Received on 01/24/2008 1:34:52PM No - I can't get into my site or FTP - it says authentication failed. You can delete them though - I will re-upload if necessary. I am almost to the point of pulling my site from this host all together and canceling my reseller account. I had one simple request: fix ruby so that my simple, 3 page RoR application will work and now I am having to struggle with support just to keep my site online. I don't know what you guys changed on the back end but these files have been in place since last night and caused no problems until someone from your side made changes today, presumably to fix one of the other tickets I have open. So now I: 1. Can't FTP in 2. Can't access through cpanel 3. Can't pull up the main page of my site 4. Still can't run a simple 3 page RoR application ================================ Staff Sent to Jason McDonald on 01/24/2008 1:42:34PM Dear Jason. I've just deleted those two folders and unsuspended your account. The account will be suspended if it happens again. Thank you. ================================ Client Jason McDonald Received on 01/24/2008 1:45:59PM I still get a 403 when accessing my site. I still can't log in through FTP. Please fix. "The account will be suspended if it happens again." Once again, nothing changed on my side. YOU GUYS MADE SOME CHANGE THAT CAUSED THIS! ================================ Staff Sent to Jason McDonald on 01/24/2008 1:49:33PM The problem must be fixed now. Please check your site again. Thank you. ================================ Client Jason McDonald Received on 01/24/2008 1:51:04PM Still down. http://www.mcdonaldland.info/ gives a 403. ================================ Staff Sent to Jason McDonald on 01/24/2008 2:47:44PM Ok, the site is ok now. Please check and let me know. Thank you. ================================ Client Jason McDonald Received on 01/24/2008 2:49:52PM It is up now. Please close all open tickets for me.
