A short time ago I wrote about Yurtle the Turtle, how I loved the story, and some of the inferences that I took from it. I just ran across a film that talks about how the story is actually about Hitler during WWII.
Just found this interesting and thought I'd share.

The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data is out and this is my monthly update to the projected annual inflation.
If you want more explanation of how I arrive at these numbers visit the May 2008 post. For information on why I am including the December 2007 numbers in these calculations see the June 2008 post.
The inflation so far for 2008:
Southeast = [ ( 212.65 - 203.457 ) / 203.457 ] * 100 = 4.518%
National = [ ( 218.783 - 210.036 ) / 210.036 ] * 100 = 4.165%

Estimated CPI when average change is applied to the rest of the year:
Est. Southeast CPI = 212.65 + ( 3 * 1.021 ) = 215.714
Est. National CPI = 218.783 + ( 3 * 0.972 ) = 221.699
Estimated inflation for 2008:
Southeast = [ ( 215.714 - 203.457 ) / 203.457 ] * 100 = 6.024%
National = [ ( 221.699 - 210.036 ) / 210.036 ] * 100 = 5.553%

Code Complete: A Practical Handbook of Software Construction, by Steve McConnell

This was a great book. If you have been in software for a significant time you are likely to have picked up many of these habits already, assuming you have been around experienced engineers who have helped you cultivate your software capabilities. It is chock full of useful information that every engineer should know. While this is a sure career improver for new engineers it has information that could easily be digested and used by even the most experienced programmer.
Seminal book. Buy it.
